CIB Funds Awarded for Stonegate Sewer Project

Roosevelt City was successful on Thursday in securing funding for the Stonegate Subdivision sewer project. The Community Impact Board approved a $2 million dollar grant with a $500,000 dollar loan at zero percent interest for the project. The subdivision was annexed last year into Roosevelt City as multiple parties have worked together to try and find a solution to the area’s failing septic systems. Plans for the project include a gravity-fed sewer system that will connect with Roosevelt City’s sewer system. A lawsuit was filed by residents of Stonegate Subdivision who suffered serious septic tank failure but it was partially dismissed without prejudice earlier this year in U.S. District Court as efforts continue forward to have the subdivision hooked up to the Roosevelt City sewer system. An application for funding has also been submitted to the Utah Water Quality Board.
