Want an alternative idea of what to do with a conifer tree that was used as your Christmas tree? Consider turning the tree into a Christmas tree for songbirds. Move the tree to the yard or patio and decorate with either stale breads and bakery products hung by string, fruits such as apples and oranges (cut in half), cereals of any kind, including Cheerios, oatmeal, grits or cornmeal (tied in net bags), strings of popcorn or cranberries, or peanut butter or nuts of any kind mashed into the crevices of pinecones. Trees can also be recycled locally this month. If you have a live Christmas tree and don’t have a use for it, remove all decorations and drop it off at the Vernal City parking lot located at 100 West and 100 North.
