The CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer evLABs gave a report last week to the Vernal Chamber that provided a 2023 outlook for the company as well as some fascinating background information about himself. James Lawrence has had a wide variety of experiences, from being a pro motorcycle racer to a successful inventor, that he says all prepared him in one way or another for the venture he is currently on. “We’ve been working on this project for about 3 ½ years and our mission is to build electric trucks and buses, and to do it in a different way than some of our competition,” Lawrence said. “The ‘E’ in EV Labs doesn’t just stand for electric. It also stands for ergonomic and it stands for economic.” The Chamber report shares that for the past year, evLABS has been working on getting their building in Naples ready, hiring personnel, building a customer base and dealing with supply chain issues. They plan to start producing in the 1st quarter, have about 100 employees and build up to 2000 vehicles in 2023 for a particular customer. Lawrence also emphasized that, while there is no guarantee, his hope is to be the company to build the electric buses for Uintah School District.
