Newstalk KVEL donated this autographed Trey Burke Jazz jersey to help these young men earn funds to go to Cooperstown NY and compete in a weeklong 12-U baseball tournament. This jersey raised $350.00 during the dinner auction for team Uintah! Good luck boys!

The Utah Division of Water Resources has a clear message for sprinkler fanatics. The time of year to run sprinklers has passed and the minutes the sprinklers should be run is “zero, zilch, nothing, nil, naught, zippo times. There are zero excuses to have your timer anywhere but the off position.”

Hunter Safety Tips from DWR
DWR Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer reminds hunters of some simple hunting safety tips. Remember to wear hunter orange anytime you are on the mountain during the rifle hunt. Unload firearm before getting into a vehicle as most hunting accidents occur in the cab of a vehicle and to look beyond your target to make sure you have a safe shot.

Great Things Happening at Davis Elementary
Davis Elementary is holding their fall Book Fair and Canned Food Drive. Along with their Book Fair, they celebrate their annual Literacy Night on November 10th, in which they invite parents and students to come in to the school and spend an evening learning about the importance of literacy. Another great opportunity that has come up for their students and school has been through the partnership one of our teachers has created with the Dinosaur National Monument.
Mayor’s Walk
26 years ago this Halloween, Uintah Recreation District, Davis Food and Drug, Vernal City and Eagle Country KLCY kicked off the first annual Mayor’s walk with a parade of 50 little ghost and goblins marching with Vernal City Mayor William Kremin from Independence Park to the parking lot of Davis Food and Drug. This year the event has grown to over 3,500! The Annual Mayor’s Walk just one more reason the Uintah Basin is a great place to live, work and play!

New Recruit at the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office
The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new recruit that will be their first explosives trained K-9. Arias is a dual purpose Belgian Malinois that is training for explosives, apprehension and tracking. The Sheriff’s Office is also welcoming a second new recruit in the form of a German Shepherd named Bentley that will work full time in the jail.
