The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new recruit that will be their first explosives trained K-9. Arias is a dual purpose Belgian Malinois that is training for explosives, apprehension and tracking. The Sheriff’s Office is also welcoming a second new recruit in the form of a German Shepherd named Bentley that will work full time in the jail.

Flags are lining the paths at Vernal’s Freestone Legacy Walking Park in honor of Veterans’ Day. Walkers of all ages are enjoying the fresh air and view of Red, White, and Blue.

Patriotism swelled hearts at the Terra Academy K-2 Veterans’ Day Program on Friday morning. The kids sang a variety of songs proclaiming their love of America, the Flag and that every individual American life matters.

Naples Elementary has gone all out for Red Ribbon Week this year and are asking the community to vote for them in the regional 2016 Red Ribbon photo contest.

The dedicated members of the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus spent their day Saturday in preparation for their next concert event. This year’s Christmas concerts on December 3rd will be a delight with dancers, the Children’s Choir and special surprises including a Home Alone medley! Photographer Brent Haddock captures the Supermoon Monday night bewitching eastern Utah. The Supermoon experienced on Monday night was the closest the full moon has been to the earth since January 26th, 1948. 

The hard working folks that put on the annual Jensen Pumpkin Festival were recognized Tuesday during the Vernal Chamber luncheon. The group was given a Certificate of Appreciation for putting on the community loved free event each year.
