A press release was issued last week announcing that Uintah County, Vernal City, Naples City and Ballard City are pleased to provide grants to assist businesses through the COVID-19 hardship. “Small businesses are critical to the success of the Basin’s economy,” shares the announcement. “The funds originate from the CARES Act fund approved by Congress and passed through the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget. The CARES Act funds are restricted in its use and cannot be used to support the local government’s general fund. Elected officials determined that strengthening the local economy is the best use of the recovery funds. Grants will be awarded in amounts from $1,000 dollars to $10,000 dollars based on funding priorities, number of applications received and grant funding available. Over $1 Million dollars in grants will be awarded to local businesses as part of the Round 1 process.” Grant applications are due Friday, July 10th. Qualification details and applications are available at www.uintahbusinessgrant.org. Vernal Chamber of Commerce Director Joel Brown and Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion will be discussing the grants available tonight on the Monday evening radio forum on Newstalk KVEL 104.5 FM and AM 920. Listen live tonight at 6pm for more valuable information on this topic.
