If ever there was a year to get involved with ‘Cards For Kids At Heart’ this is it! The last year has been devastating and isolating for our community’s senior population and this annual event is completely aimed at showing extra love for the hundreds of senior citizens in care facilities or that are homebound. Getting involved is simple. Recruit your friends and family and get to work crafting homemade and individualized Valentine’s cards. This is the 6th Year for the ‘Cards For Kids At Heart’ project organized each year by KLCY’s morning show host Amy Richards in loving memory of her Grandma. Amy has long wished she had taken the time to respond to a card her grandmother sent her before she passed away. With that fire in her heart, Amy created this annual Valentine’s tradition to coordinate the cause of making homemade cards to be delivered to the seniors throughout the region. Due to COVID-19, the deadline to drop off cards is a bit earlier this year and safety precautions will be in place to keep seniors safe while still brightening their Valentine’s with special homemade cards. Last year, 793 seniors were recipients and the need is just as great this year. The deadline to drop off the homemade cards is February 5th. Drop off locations include Realty One Group and the KLCY/Fox studio on North Vernal Avenue and Subway in Roosevelt.
