Known for their can-do attitudes, members of the Can Do Crew attended the Uintah County Commission meeting on Monday as their contract with the county was up for renewal. Coordinator Diane Mclean shared that the Can Do Crew is a wonderful program through Uintah School District that teaches job and life skills to special needs teens and adults until age 22. The group has cleaning contracts throughout the community, including with the movie theater, Vernal Regional Airport, the Water District, USU, and the Uintah County Library, as well as others. Once the participants get all their credits to finish high school, they are added to the payroll of the program and earn a monthly paycheck for their time at the jobs. Uintah County Library Director Sam Passey praised the crew and their job cleaning at the library. Passey noted that while it used to be a year round program, the District has changed it to only run during the school year for 9 months. The Commission expressed their appreciation for the work the Can Do Crew does cleaning the library and approved the new contract for 2023.
