It’s the time of year for yard cleaning and that means open burning. Uintah County’s spring burn window is March 30th through May 30th. No burn permit is required but Dispatch MUST be notified of the burn at 435-789-4222. Vernal, Naples, and Ballard City have the same burn window but each DO require a permit to burn and Dispatch must be notified. All are urged to be extra careful because of the high winds. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond says to burn early in the morning and make sure it is out before the wind picks up in the afternoon. Roosevelt City shared this week that their Open Burn Window will be from April 1st through April 30th. No permits are required but residents MUST call Central Dispatch before burning at 435-722-4558. This is so they can let you know if there is elevated wildfire danger and so if someone calls in your fire, Dispatch already knows and the fire department is not sent needlessly. As with all fires, make safety your top priority.
