It’s the time of year for yard cleaning and that means open burning. Uintah County’s spring burn window opened at the end of March and runs through May 30th. No burn permit is required but Dispatch MUST be notified of the burn at 435-789-4222. Vernal, Naples, and Ballard City have the same burn window but each DO require a permit to burn and Dispatch must be notified. All are urged to be extra careful because of the high winds. It is best to burn early in the morning and make sure it is out before the wind picks up in the afternoon. Calling Dispatch is crucial so they can let you know if there is elevated wildfire danger and so if someone calls in your fire, they already know and the fire department is not sent needlessly. As with all fires, make safety your top priority.
