There’s still time to register for the popular Burbot Bash, an event focused on diminishing the invasive eel like fish known for its ugly face and appetite for the native kokanee salmon and trout populations. This year’s Burbot Bash is scheduled for January 26th through the 28th at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. There are thousands of dollars in prize money given out each year and new this year is a lake trout category aimed at helping decrease the number of small lake trout that compete with other fish for resources. Other fishing tournaments have been canceled due to lack of ice but it is considered very unlikely that this would be the case for the Burbot Bash on Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
