Uintah County Clerk-Auditor Mike Wilkins presented a Resolution that will be on today’s Uintah County Commission meeting agenda regarding a 2023 budget increase during the Commission’s regular work session on Monday. Wilkins explained that the budget increase is coming from multiple items. The Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice pretrial services has been created and funded from state funds in the amount of $239,500 dollars.The Uintah County Library is requesting to take $20,000 from their fund balance to fund lighting upgrades and a Can Do Crew payment. Travel and Tourism have $87,200 dollars due to the balloon festival, phenomenon, and a bike race bringing in more than was anticipated and that amount will be used to cover additional expenses. On the agenda for today’s Uintah County Commission meeting is a Public Hearing on the 2024 Budget, a Public Hearing and Resolution regarding the 2023 Budget Increase, and Truth In Taxation of the intent to increase Uintah County property tax revenue by over $5.6 million dollars. The meeting is today at 3pm in the Commission Chambers.
