The Buckskin Hills Ski and Snow Hill is drawing visitors from far and wide. According to Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp, the facility is a huge success and meeting all goals established for its operation. These goals include helping the economy, providing a COVID safe environment, offering an activity which improves the emotional health of citizens, employing 8 local people and having maintenance and operation of the facility cash positive in the first month. The funding for the ski and snow hill came from CARES Act grant money allocated to Uintah County to enhance or provide recreation activities that are COVID safe. Coltharp says this purpose is being fulfilled as many who have used the facility have shared that this is the first time they have been able to get out and socialize with friends since the pandemic began last March. The facility has been popular not just among locals but there have been visitors from the Wasatch Front, Colorado, Wyoming, and neighboring Duchesne and Daggett Counties.
