Utah Highway Patrol has a clear message for travelers going into the Thanksgiving holiday. Buckle up! UHP announced this week that new local research reveals a troubling trend, seat belt usage is at a five-year low. As a result, law enforcement agencies throughout the state are working additional shifts to stop and educate drivers and passengers who aren’t buckled properly. Unrestrained fatalities account for 45 percent of total vehicle roadway deaths in Utah over the last five years. Also consider that the AAA travel forecast predicts more than 53.4 million people in America are expected to travel which is the highest single-year increase since 2005. Be safe, slow down, and buckle up as you share the roads this holiday weekend.
