Utah State Parks & Recreation reports that the body of a swimmer who did not resurface at Red Fleet Reservoir on Wednesday has been recovered by the search and rescue team. According to Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg, the incident happened in the mid-afternoon at Red Fleet State Park when a 34-year-old Uintah County man was on a boat with others in the wakeless area of the reservoir. “The individual entered the water without a life jacket on and went below the surface of the water and has not resurfaced,” shared Swalberg on Wednesday night. “There is a number of different entities at the park including the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and the Uintah County Search and Rescue personnel. Utah State Park Rangers are actively involved in the search. The Utah State Park Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV), a submersible piece of equipment that can go under and look below the surface, is being used and the Utah Highway Patrol Dive Team is also searching.” The identity has not yet been released as officials ensure all family is notified first.
