The search for a missing Moffat County man has come to an end as officials announced that on Tuesday his body was found. 70-year-old Thomas Ray Velasquez was officially entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person in January. He had last been seen on December 18th and he was reported missing on January 6th. An extensive ground and aerial search took place at his residence on Moffat County Road 53 where he was last believed to have been located. During that search, his 2020 Polaris Ranger UTV was recovered but the search for Mr. Velasquez was unsuccessful. On April 2nd, a family member was performing a self-initiated search at the property and the body was located near the same location where the Polaris Ranger was found in January. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office shared the following on Tuesday: “The body was still partially covered in snow, and had been completely covered in snow just days prior to discovery. There were still deep pockets of snow in the area, which impacted prior search efforts by family members, law enforcement, and community members. No foul play is suspected at this time.”
