A body found in Daggett County is believed to be a camper reported missing earlier this month and last seen in the Brown’s Park area. The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office received a report that 44-year-old Leonard Corby Fisher was missing late on the evening of April 4th and according to the report, no one had had contact with Fisher since March 31st or April 1st. “A sheriff’s deputy and two state Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers responded to the area on the morning of April 5th. They found an abandoned truck that had been loaned to Fisher. They also found his campsite with miscellaneous personal property, including firearms. A note was found as well, stating that the truck would not start. The truck, however, was found to be in working condition. Authorities searched the area for several hours with the help of a Classic Air Medical helicopter crew. The search yielded no results. Due to current issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the county’s limited resources, the active search for Fisher was called off.” According to Daggett County Sheriff Erik Bailey, the search resumed on April 18th with support from Uintah County and Moffat County. Searchers found a man’s body shortly before 11:30am on Monday, April 20th, about 2.5 miles from Fisher’s last known location. Fisher’s Colorado driver’s license was inside a wallet found with the body and next-of-kin was notified Monday evening. “Based on the location and the belongings found at the scene, we believe the body is that of Mr. Fisher,” shares Bailey. “On behalf of my office and the searchers involved in the effort to find Mr. Fisher, I extend my sincere condolences to his family and friends.” The area where the body was found has been processed and there did not appear to be any obvious evidence of foul play. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death and officially confirm identity. Evans Family Media offers our condolences to the family and friends mourning this loss at this time.
