TriCounty Health Department is urging all eligible locals to find a local blood drive and make an appointment to donate as a national shortage is causing serious consequences. TriCounty Health shares that “COVID-19 cases are on the rise throughout the nation, including the Uintah Basin, due to the Omicron variant. This has caused a shortage in eligible individuals who can donate blood, making a shortage, which affects emergency care like surgeries and car accidents.” There are upcoming blood drives including at TriCounty Health in Vernal on January 18th, Uintah County Library on January 24th, the Duchesne Stake on February 11th, the Altamont Stake on February 17th, and Roosevelt West Stake on February 18th.
