Public input is being welcomed on a proposal to gather wild horses in the Wyoming White Mountain Herd Management Area north of Green River as part of the Rock Springs Field Office. According to the BLM, the appropriate management level for this area is 205 to 300 wild horses but a survey completed in 2022 found 549 wild horses in the area. It’s estimated that in 2024 there could be up to 791 horses in that area. A 30-day public review of the proposed wild horse gather was initiated by the Bureau of Land Management Rock Springs Field Office on February 21st. Comments can be made on the BLM ePlanning website. To submit input, click the “Participate Now” link in the left-hand margin of the page. Input must be received by March 22nd.
