BLM Performing Prescribed Burns 10 Miles North Of Dutch John

by | Dec 19, 2022 | News | 0 comments

There are current plans to do slash pile prescribed burns north of Dutch John by the Bureau of Land Management High Desert District. Slash piles are the accumulation of limbs, leaves, pine needles and miscellaneous fuel left by natural debris and forest management activities, such as thinning, pruning, and timber harvesting. The prescribed burns will dispose of slash piles approximately 10 miles north of Dutch John. Please note that any burning will depend upon weather and fuel moisture meeting specific parameters. When parameters are met, and a burning happens, smoke has the possibility of being visible over long distances. That said it is anticipated that the smoke will clear rapidly thanks to the time of year. Please be aware of project areas and prescribed fire operations when recreating.
