The Bureau of Land Management has announced a federal oil and gas lease sale that will take place this spring for land in northeastern Utah. The land includes two parcels in Uintah County which have been proposed for sale for the second quarterly lease sale of 2025. The two parcels encompass 833.28 acres of land that is managed by the BLM’s Vernal Field Office boundaries. A 30-day scoping period was held early in 2024. The public comment period for the sale was held last summer between June 24th and July 24th and accepted public comment on the parcels, potential deferrals, and the related environmental analysis. The BLM has now opened the 30-day protest period that runs until January 17th. All parcels that are included in a federal oil and gas lease sale include appropriate stipulations to protect important natural resources. Information on current and upcoming BLM leases is available through the National Fluid Lease Sale System. The oil and gas lease sale is scheduled for May 13th, 2025.
