Do you have feelings about Daylight Savings? Well you’re not the only one. Representative Rob Bishop has introduced H.R. 6331, the Daylight Act, that would empower states to decide how they will observe daylight savings time. The legislation allows them to determine whether they will operate year round under daylight savings time or under standard time. “For any student of federalism, this is a no-brainer,” shares Representative Bishop. “The range of industry and lifestyle is so varied across our country, it only makes sense for states to have the ability to set their watches the way they best see fit.” The bill does not force any state to take action but gives states the freedom to take action if they choose. This gives people the flexibility to do what they want, explains Bishop, who says this reinforces states’ power and loosens the grip held by the federal government.
