Crews are working to contain a fire in northeastern Utah. According to Utah Fire Info, the Big Draw Fire is burning in Duchesne County about 3 miles west of Neola in Big Draw. It was first reported on Monday at 3:55pm and 16 engines were assigned with a large tanker and additional firefighting resources ordered. That initial report stated that the fire was burning in juniper, being driven by wind to the northeast but thankfully, no structures were threatened. The final update on Monday evening estimated the Big Draw Fire at 300 acres with no imminent threat to structures. At that time, 14 engine crews, a squad from the Flaming Gorge Wildland Fire Use Module, three water tenders and a dozer were assigned to the fire with ground crews working late into the night. The firefighters on the ground received help from a large air tanker. A hotshot crew and a Type II initial attack crew are expected to arrive today along with the aircraft. The cause of the Big Draw Fire remains under investigation.
