The details for President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 pandemic rescue plan has been released and it looks like Utah will be allocated $1.3 billion dollars. Locally that breaks down as Daggett County getting $184,526 dollars, Duchesne County getting $3,872,723 dollars, and Uintah County getting $6,940,911 dollars. Guidance from the Treasury Department gave general categories for spending the money including use for public health expenses, offset harm from downturn for workers, small businesses and affected industries, replacing lost public sector revenues and investing in water, sewer and broadband internet. There are some restrictions as well. Funds should not be used by state and local governments to cut taxes, pay down debt or bolster reserve funds. Further details and guidelines are expected in the coming weeks.
