Bender Mountain Fire Spreads; Containment Grows

Details have been updated on the Bender Mountain Fire. As of
Thursday night
, the fire measured at 4,104 acres and is 50 percent contained. The fire began
on Sunday night
on BLM land in Utah in the area where Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado meet. Within 24 hours it had grown to 2,500 acres and was reported to be human caused. On Thursday, Utah Fire Info reported that it was 17 miles northwest of Dutch John and continues to burn in Utah and Colorado. There are 6 crews, 9 engines, 2 helicopters, and 1 air attack plane for a total of 173 fire personnel. Thankfully no structures are threatened and firefighters are using direct and indirect tactics to contain the fire’s movement as well as reinforce the current containment lines.
