Bench Trial This Week For Duchesne County Nurse In 2016 Death Of Inmate

A new trial is underway this week in 8th District Court for the nurse who was charged
with negligent homicide in the death of an inmate. Duchesne County Jail nurse, Jana
Clyde, was charged with negligent homicide in the 2016 death of 21-year-old inmate
Madison Jensen and the case went before a jury on June 8th of this year in 8th District
Court in Duchesne. In the end, the jury deadlocked and the judge called a mistrial. A new
trial was ordered and the pretrial conference was held on September 27th during which
Clyde waived the right to a trial by jury. The court ordered a bench trial in person at the
Uintah County Courthouse on October 3rd, 5th, and 6th and then in person at the
Duchesne County Courthouse on October 7th.
