The beautiful weather made for a fantastic day of ice fishing on Saturday for the 2018 Steinaker Ice Fishing Tournament. Nick Smith was the winner of the adult competition followed by Chad Boren and Ron Morgas. Daysen Rinder was the winner of the youth competition followed by Taylor Blodgett and Liam Merrel. There were 94 participants in the tournament this year with everyone going home with prizes, shares Steinaker State Park Assistant Manager Josh Hansen. Numbers were a bit down from last year, likely due to a fishing event at Strawberry Reservoir that cut into their normal participants. “Weather for us was just fantastic,” shares Hansen. “It was nice and sunny with everyone coming out of their tents to fish on the ice. We could not have asked for a better day.”
