The holiday season has most hearts full of love and service but that doesn’t mean there aren’t grinches lurking about. “Law enforcement has been responding to an increased number of thefts,” shares Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell. “People should always lock their homes and vehicles and not leave valuables visible.” If you are having packages delivered to your home it’s also important to take steps to avoid being hit by the package grinch. “Avoid package thefts by accepting packages when delivered or if you’re expecting a package and not planning to be home for the delivery, arrange for a neighbor, friend, or family member to retrieve the package,” says Campbell. You can also give specific instructions on where to deliver the package, like to the side or back of the house where it is out of sight from the road.
