Utahns love to get outside and enjoy some sunny weather over Memorial Weekend and local fishing hot spots are topping the list of best fishing locations in Utah during the holiday. According to the Division of Wildlife Resources, among the top waters to take your family fishing right now is Currant Creek and Starvation Reservoir. “During surveys last fall, “shares fisheries coordinator Randy Oplinger, “our biologists found a lot of large tiger trout in [Currant Creek Reservoir]. Those tiger trout should be hungry and easy to catch this time of year…Starvation is one of the best places in Utah to catch walleye and May is a great month to catch them at the reservoir.” The DWR made a second list of the best places to fish and beat the crowds. Flaming Gorge easily made that list as a reservoir that is highly popular but a place you can find solitude. “If you have a boat,” shares Oplinger, “it’s easy to motor out into the reservoir and get away from everyone else. May and June are great months to catch rainbow trout, lake trout, kokanee salmon and smallmouth bass at Flaming Gorge.” For more information on Utah’s hot fishing spots, visit
