Since 1782 the Bald Eagle has been the national emblem of the United States. Found exclusively in North America, the Bald Eagle is treated in many cultures as a sacred bird central to spiritual customs. February is National Bald Eagle month and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will be holding viewings across the state. The northeastern Utah viewing will be held at the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge this Saturday, February 8th. There will be DWR personnel on site to answer questions and help spot the Bald Eagles, as well as other birds on the refuge. There will also be birds presented by the local falconry experts. On top of all that, visitors to the refuge for this event will get a free 2020 Bald Eagle pin. This is a free event and there will be spotting scopes but individuals should bring their own pair of binoculars. Even though the event is free, the DWR is asking that individuals fill out the registration form so that they can improve future events.
