The Backpack Buddies program continues to bless families in Uintah School District. The most recent example comes from the Ashley Elementary School community and school staff kicking off the holidays with hearts of giving. The group gathered food that was then donated to the Backpack Buddies program. “The Backpack Buddies program provides students with easy to prepare, kid-friendly food to supplement meals over the weekend or during holiday breaks,” shares the District. “In Uintah County, 18 percent of children experience food scarcity. That’s the 5th highest rate in Utah.” Those involved gathered enough food to make 68 weekend bags of food and 29 holiday bags to send home with students who could use the supplemental food over the holidays or long weekends throughout the year.
