Attention all dads: the Father/Daughter Sweetheart dance is happening this Friday. Any advertising that states February 15th is incorrect. It was originally scheduled that day but had to be moved to Friday, February 7th. This tradition, hosted by the Uintah Recreation District, allows fathers to take their princess(es) to an evening of dancing and refreshments. Event coordinator Shauna Jo Eves shares, “I started the father daughter dance a few years back because I was looking for an activity that we could reach out to our tweens. I had a friend in Colorado that always posted pictures of him and his older two daughters at a dance every year and I thought growing up with a family of seven girls it was always fun when my dad spent time with just me. It’s become a tradition for many dads and their daughters. It’s been a lot of fun for us to see the girls come in their pretty dresses, some very fancy some very simple, but all still to share special time with dad [or surrogate dad].” The dance will be at the Vernal City Conference room Friday, February 7th from 6pm to 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Uintah Community Center for $10 dollars per couple and $2 dollars for each additional person (for those with more than one princess to bring).
