Mistakes happen and in the case of an accident on Thursday at the Vernal Post Office, it’s important to appreciate the fact that everyone was okay. If you happened to pass by or stop at the Post Office on Thursday afternoon, you likely noticed something missing, the front doors. According to the Vernal Police Department, a call came in at 1:54pm that a vehicle had driven into the front of the post office. “An elderly female in a Chevrolet Astro van hit the throttle instead of the brakes,” shares Vernal Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell. “The vehicle penetrated both sets of glass doors causing extensive damage.” The Vernal Post Office is still open with access to the building from the south door. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
