Representatives from Ashley Regional Medical Center recently presented to the Vernal
Chamber of Commerce about their efforts to treat addiction locally. Ashley Regional
CEO Bill Southwick shared that the opioid epidemic continues to increase in severity and
Ashley Regional is making good on their goal to combat the problem. They now offer the
StepOne Service as a medical detox for those struggling with opioid and/or alcohol use.
Program care coordinator December Hatch explained that the detox program is provided
to individuals personally invested in seeking recovery who are in early stages of acute
withdrawal at the time of hospital admission. The StepOne Service provides an inpatient,
three-to-five day hospital stay to safely manage opioid and alcohol withdrawals.
Individuals seeking treatment through the StepOne Service must be committed to staying
in the hospital until they are medically stable. Once discharged from the hospital, they
must be motivated to continue addiction treatment by transitioning to a service based in
the community. To learn more, call 435-545-4427.
