Ashley National Forest Warns of Increase in Wildfire Danger

Wildfire danger is nothing to take lightly as dry conditions exist throughout the region. Ashley National Forest reports that the dry conditions in the forest are moving towards historic highs, leading to increased wildfire danger. Fire danger is Ashley National Forest is officially marked as “Very High” thanks to minimal snowpack last winter and a dry spring. “Visitors and campers recreating on the Ashley National Forest in June and over the Fourth of July weekend should never leave campfires unattended,” shares Ashley National Forest Fire Management Officer Joe Flores.  “Ensure they are ‘dead-out’, cold to the touch, prior to leaving your campsite… The use of all fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices are prohibited on the Ashley National Forest regardless of weather conditions or holidays.” All are urged to use caution while recreating on the Ashley National Forest this summer.
