If you have any question whether or not winter has arrived just take a visit to the North Slope of the Uintah Mountains. Ashley National Forest announced on Thursday that all roads on the Flaming Gorge Ranger District are now closed to normal traffic though they are open to over-the-snow vehicles. “If you head out to the Forest to recreate this winter please plan for cold and snow,” shares Ashley National Forest. “Make sure someone not going with you knows where you are going and when to expect your return.” On December 3rd, Ashley National Forest reported that snowfall had averaged from 1 foot at lower elevations to over 2 feet at higher elevations, prompting winter gate closures on Red Cloud Loop, White Cloud Loop, Taylor Mountain Road, Old Tow Ski Road, Massey Canyon Road, Whiterocks Road, and Colton Cut Off Road.
