With so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors it is not surprising that disputes arise between groups while out recreating. In response to one such conflict, Ashley National Forest has clarified the rules when it comes to the ski trails within the Forest. “We’ve had multiple complaints regarding snowmobilers in areas designated for cross-country skiing,” shares the announcement. “As a reminder, ski trails are for non-motorized activities only such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking only. Blue diamonds along the sides of a trail will signify a skiing trail.” Ashley National Forest also reminds snowmobilers that a lot of work has gone into keeping the popular snowmobiling trails groomed this year. This means that thousands of acres of Forest land are available for snowmobiling outside the cross country skiing trails and those areas will continue to be groomed for snowmobile use.
