At the peak of camping season a popular campground has been taken from the destination list. Ashley National Forest announced Tuesday that Lodgepole Campground has had to be closed for the season. “The water pumps supporting the water system at Lodgepole Campground have failed and had to be shut down,” shares Ashley National Forest. “Due to the labor intensive process of repairing the water system the campground will be closed for the remainder of the 2020 camping season. Those with reservations will be contacted separately about this closure. The dump station will also be shut down for the remainder of the 2020 camping season.” The Forest also announced in July that Forest Road 005 leading to the Ute Fire Tower was temporarily closed for the Ute Tower Paint Project. The closure is expected to take about two weeks.
