Developed campgrounds on the Flaming Gorge Ranger District of the Ashley National Forest are scheduled to start opening this weekend. Ashley National Forest shared in a press release that the forest is working with the concessionaire to prepare these sites for use and they will begin opening on May 8th. “Other campgrounds on the Vernal and Duchesne Ranger Districts will begin to open on May 22nd as they become accessible,” shares Ashley National Forest. “Some campgrounds may remain inaccessible due to snow, delaying their opening. Please check the status of the campground you plan on visiting prior to departing by contacting the Ranger District in which it is located. Group campgrounds and other sites such as yurts and guard stations with a capacity of over 10 people will remain closed and will open at a future date to be determined, due to Centers for Disease Control direction and local public health orders.” All visitors to the Ashley National Forest are asked to practice responsible recreation including social distancing and please adhere to state and local directives and orders while recreating outdoors.
