Snow is in abundance this year and has led to a record year of snow pack which is exactly what was needed for a state that was in extreme drought last year. That said, officials are reminding residents that the snow means there will be later access to Ashley National Forest. Trial Lake has recorded an unbelievable 100 inches of snow depth. As of April 5th, snow depth measures 83 inches at Chepeta, 79 inches at Mosby Mountain, 72 inches at Trout Creek and 74 inches at Kings Cabin. Ashley National Forest is reminding the public that not only does the snow need to melt but Forest officials need to gain access first so that they can clear trees across roads, clean culverts and repair any damage caused by the runoff. The recent snow will definitely push back public access and everyone needs to accept that Forest activities will be available later than usual this year.
