He also says it’s crucial to service your furnaces, keep clearance around space heaters, and check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Other home fire safety tips are to: Avoid using candles in bedrooms and sleeping areas. Always use a flashlight, not a candle, for emergency lighting and if you smoke, smoke outside.
