Was A Wolf Found In Duchesne County?

If you’ve heard the buzz about a potential wolf found dead in Duchesne County, wildlife officials are reporting that they do not believe that is the case. According to DWR conservation outreach manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby, biologists investigated the carcass and determined that it was more consistent with a wolf-dog hybrid, noting that it was a little bigger than a German Shepherd. The carcass was spotted on the side of the road as a traveler was pulling onto the roadway. The group in the vehicle stopped to take a closer look and felt convinced that they had come across a wolf and wildlife officials were contacted. Wolf-dog hybrids are legal to own as pets and Kieffer-Selby shared that it appears the animal could have been hit and ended up on the side of the road. In the meantime, the carcass is now at a lab where genetic testing will eventually provide more answers.
