Uintah High Teacher Selected For Utah Teacher Fellows Program

Only 20 teachers in the state were selected recently to serve on the Utah Teacher Fellows Program and a Uintah High School teacher is among them. Uintah High’s Library Media Specialist Machelle Maxwell will serve as part of this cross-state teacher leader network. Utah Teacher Fellows is a nonpartisan nonprofit that connects classroom teachers with their peers and decision makers in an effort to find solutions to education challenges. Ms. Maxwell is now among an elite group of educators who made it through “the rigorous selection process demonstrating an exceptional willingness to collaborate, persevere, take initiative and risks, and honor the perspectives of colleagues and decision-makers,” shares Hope Street Group Utah. “The Utah Teacher Fellows provides a group of diverse educators with skills around peer and community engagement, tools to facilitate focus groups, and communication strategies while giving them opportunities to amplify teacher voice with the belief that students’ education and long term trajectory is improved when instructors inform education policy.” Congratulations Ms. Maxwell on this accomplishment!
