East Weaver Fire 100 Percent Contained

Crews will continue to monitor a fire on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation that reached 100 percent containment on Saturday. According to the Uintah and Ouray Wildland Fire program, the East Weaver Fire was called in on Thursday, located in the Hill Creek area southeast of Weaver Reservoir. Upon arrival to the area, a recon unit located the fire adjacent to the road burning in mixed-conifers and brush. Two BIA type-6 wildland engines were ordered and quickly responded to the "East Weaver" fire and arrived later that evening. The fire was reported at four acres actively burning with a high spread potential. No structures are currently threatened and no significant control problems are anticipated. This fire is a natural start due to lightning from passing thunderstorms. On Saturday it was reported that the fire was 100 percent contained.
