Vernal Mayor Responds After Law Enforcement Pulls Over ATV Ride Participants

Feedback about the Outlaw Trail ATV Jamboree has been overwhelmingly positive but there was one mishap that the Vernal City Mayor provided a response to this week. “Thanks to all who participated in the Outlaw Trail ATV Jamboree this past weekend!” shared Vernal City Mayor Doug Hammond. “The Vernal area hosted over 700 riders from dozens of states and throughout Utah. The riders enjoyed our scenic landscapes and hometown hospitality. My wife and I enjoyed hosting one of the trail rides on Friday. We welcome you back to Vernal to enjoy our trails or other attractions. Saturday night, hundreds of riders participated in the annual night ride. We enjoyed seeing the ATV's and their colorful lights. During the night ride, four drivers were stopped by Vernal PD for using flashing red and blue lights. No citations were issued during these stops. I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding that occurred. During future events, there will be better coordination between law enforcement and the event coordinators regarding the night ride,” emphasized Mayor Hammond. “We look forward to next year's Outlaw Trail ATV event.”
