Backpack Buddies Food Drive Receives Amazing Response

An effort to help fill the hunger gaps over the weekends for local kids received an amazing response. Uintah School District announced Wednesday that the Backpack Buddies Food Drive collected 34,218 individual food items for their cause. The Backpack Buddies Food Drive was organized by the Uintah High chapter of National Honor Society. The idea was to gather kid-friendly food that could be distributed to local elementary kids in need to take home over the weekend to supplement their meals from Thursday night until heading back to school on Monday morning. "National Honor Society was thrilled to sponsor this drive to help our elementary schools," shares NHS advisor Machelle Maxwell. "Special thanks to those who dropped off food to help with this drive." The food will be used in Backpack Buddies programs at Ashley, Davis, Discovery, and Naples elementary schools. Well done to all the youth that organized and contributed to this wonderful cause!
