A Duchesne County man is facing multiple counts of Burglary and Theft after a vehicle theft spree. 23-year-old Isiah Edward Russell was finally arrested on Monday after leading authorities on quite the chase. ‘Affidavit of Probable Cause’ statements submitted in 8th District Court provide the details. At 8:00am an officer was dispatched on a report of burglary and a vehicle theft from the Jones Paint and Glass in Roosevelt. Camera footage showed that at 4:00am Russell was inside the store going through desks and belongings before stealing a customer’s white 2004 Chevy Truck. While the officer was at Jones Paint and Glass it was learned that the stolen truck was now at TJ Tire Pro’s in Ballard. Camera footage showed that Russell had driven into the yard, got out of the vehicle and went through several other vehicles. At some point Russell stole a large black Ford pickup registered to Basin Swab and Well Services in Ballard. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper observed a vehicle matching the description speeding and attempted to pull the black Ford pickup over. Russell “took evasive action by speeding up and driving through a field.” The UHP vehicle was not suited for traveling through the field and the active pursuit stopped. The officer joined another officer and they found that the vehicle “drove through a gate and several fences before coming to a rest in a freshly cut hay field.” While the exact time is not clear in court documents, Russell also found time to steal another truck, this time from New Frontier Solutions, formerly Savage Trucking. Russell abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. Duchesne County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended Russell in Myton on Monday at approximately 12:30pm. Court documents note that Russell’s license was denied at the time of Monday’s events and the presence of stolen credit cards and bank cards combined with his past criminal conviction history of theft enhanced the charges to a felony level. Russell was booked into Duchesne County Jail.
