Local Crime Rates On The Rise

Local crime rates are on the rise and all are encouraged to take precautions. Roosevelt City Police Department shined a spotlight on the issue on Tuesday morning stating that “Roosevelt City and surrounding areas have seen a marked increase in burglaries, thefts and frauds the past several weeks. Law enforcement from Roosevelt, Duchesne County, Uintah County, BIA, state agencies and others have all been involved in attempting to curb this increase. Some offenders have been caught but we need everyone to be vigilant in making sure our belongings and properties are secured as much as possible. Please keep vehicles locked and valuables out of sight. Light up properties as much as possible and call in any suspicious activities you may see. Several recent burglaries targeted businesses who have fleet vehicles or customer vehicles on site. Offices and shops have been burglarized and keys to the onsite vehicles are taken and the vehicles stolen. A small change in the way we all go about our daily activities, routines and business will help damper the activities of those who choose to destroy and steal rather than contribute.”
