The Uintah County Economic Development Office has a fairly new program aimed at helping grow local businesses. The Small Business Microgrant program started last fall with the intention of making grant funding within reach of small businesses and through a simple process. The requirements are straight forward. Applicants must be an existing business of any size in Uintah County. The grant is a 50% reimbursement up to $5,000 for a project that helps a business grow. For example, it could be for a new piece of equipment, new software, or to remodel the business itself. Economic Development Director Travis Campbell presented on the microgrant during Tuesday’s Commission meeting and explained that growth means anything that will help the business, such as something to help serve more customers, serve existing customers more efficiently, or goods and services. So far the program has approved 9 applications, 4 of which have been completed for a disbursement of over $38,000 in grant funds. In 2024, the program received $57,500 from the State for the program. Some funding was left over from that and another $34,000 was added from the State to use in 2025. To apply, visit www.business.uintah.gov.
