An amazing 320 monarch butterflies were tagged in the Uinta Basin this season. Dinosaur National Monument shared that this is thanks to partner organizations and volunteers including the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, interns from Utah Conservation Corps, Scientists in Parks, Latino Heritage Internship Program, and Conservation Legacy’s Community Volunteer Ambassador program. Community members and supporters of Uinta Basin Birds & Butterflies also help the effort each year. Tagging monarch butterflies enables scientists to track the monarchs migration routes and understand their breeding habits.
